THE OFFICIAL EAM EVENT FAQ:

Deutschland Regiment of the NWHA is proud to sponsor a weekend of WW2 living history and public battle at the Evergreen Aviation Museum June 9th, 10th, and 11th, 2006.

This event is a tribute to all veterans past and presently serving the United States. This event is also dedicated to the memories of Mike Smith and Tyler Hayden.

This event will be multi-faceted, with living history displays from our region's premier American, Commonwealth, Russian, and German reenactor units. Displays will include uniforms, equipment, firearms, and vehicles of the Second World War.

Two World War Two themed battles will be performed for the museum guests each day of the event. One battle is a Normandy 1944 theme, illustrating the struggle between the Allies and the Axis forces after D-Day in Western Europe.

The second battle each day is Ost Front themed, illustrating the clash of the Germans and Russians on the vast Eastern Front of the Second World War.

There will be other public demonstrations including horse-mounted German Kavalrie and period infantry tactics.

We have an L4 Cub that will be flying in the role of the artillery spotter aircraft for the 1030 Saturday "Normandy" scenario. Mr. Colin Powers, the restorations director for the EAM, will be flying his personal L4 as his contribution to this event.

This is a great event for cameras as there will be many unique photo opportunities.

EAM EVENT SCHEDULE:

FRIDAY, JUNE 9th, 2006

The setup time for the the bivouac area and the public displays for this living history weekend and public battle event at the Evergreen Aviation Museum is from 9am to 5pm on Friday June 9th.

The event Check-in tent and the bivouac area for all participating reenactors are located in the oak grove on the north side of the large Evergreen Air Museum building.

The oak grove is our bivouac and display area. Our various unit encampments will function as living displays of soldiers in their environment with their period vehicles, equipment, weapons, and personal ephemera. Period signage for each unit is encouraged to help the public identify each unit's bivouac area and displays.

The battle area for Saturday and Sunday's public battles are separate from the oak grove bivouac area. Unit commaders will be provided with a map of the operation area. The unit commanders meeting will be Saturday morning at 0800.

Battlefield preparations (slit trenches, foxholes, defensive positions, etc.) will also commence Friday and must be completed by 0900 Saturday morning. Period camping is allowed in the battlefield positions. Yes, we can dig foxholes in our display areas if they are filled-in and re-capped neatly with the grass that was removed.

Even though Friday is our official setup day, don't be too surprised if a few Evergreen Air Museum vistors want to see what we are doing. Feel free to interact with them in a positive manner.

SATURDAY, JUNE 10th, 2006

The event times for this living history event and public reenactment will be the same as the Evergreen Aviation Museum's open time, 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

Prior to the opening time for the event there will be a unit commander's meeting at 0800 at Deutschland Regiment's check-in tent. This is the event HQ.

After the unit commander's meeting we will need a detail of men to assist in moving some of the weapons from Evergreen's weapons collection to the display area. I have arranged for display weapons for each of the forces represented at this event.

The Normandy battle will be at 1030 daily, and the Ost Front battle will occur at 1400 daily.

There will be other WW2 period demonstrations as well. If any unit wishes to demonstrate drill, tactics, weapons, etc, please contact the event coordinator, Chris Sharp, at waffenmg34@yahoo.com.

Smaller groups of reenactors are free to skirmish on the battlefield area at times that do not clash with the pre-scheduled public battles.

The public aspect of the Saturday event officially ends at 5pm.

After 5pm, I will need another detail of men to help return all the Evergreen display weapons back to the Evergreen Weapons Collection room.

SUNDAY, JUNE 11th, 2006:
