FOR SALE: USN WWII ERA (and before) KHAKI DECK AWNING. This item is a large heavy duty canvas material identical to all those used on Navy capitol ships in WWII as a sun and weather awning at a location aboard ship such as a quarterdeck. It has heavy duty sewn loops, and bronze cleats with "USN" on them. It would be idle to use in the filed as a make shift tent, or ground cover in a tent. This awning was aboard USS UTAH, sunk at Pearl Harbor, when the war started. It was originally made in 1903, and is truly "Old Navy". It was also aboard USS Baltimore- a pre war cruiser. It is stamped USS Utah and USS Baltimore. This could easily have been "borrowed" by a enterprising troops who came ashore, and kept by an Army unit to use in the field, or "borrowed from SEABEES. It's a real period artifact, without rips and damage, overall in very good condition. Will sell for $150. If interested mail Dave G. at dgzap@hotmail.com.

FOR SALE: WWII 1944 -dated- Swiss ARMY BICYCLE. This is a large size bike, approx 20" or 21". It is all black, with two license plates from the Swiss Army, which could be taken off. I have been told it is very similar to German bikes of the period. It also has post war cargo carrying bags/folders attached, which can be removed. Tires appear old and possibly original. Chain is massive and original. This is a most unique "military vehicle" from the WWII era- clearly dated on the frame as 1944 made. Very interesting braking system, heavy and sturdy bike, everything works, very good original condition. Will sell for $650. If interested, please email Dave G. at: dgzap@hotmail.com.

WWII Artwork
WWII Artwork

As the NWHA's newsletter photographer Dave takes photos at all of the club's events. These are often used as the source for later paintings. Specially commissioned works are also available. Paintings range in size from 24" up to 48", and can be made in either color or blank and white. All are original works of art made to the specs of the purchaser. These paintings use the real gear and uniforms, with the experience of a collector of over 20 years.

You can get more information or a quote for artwork by sending email to the unit at sparky@6th-airborne.org. Paintings can be based on a favorite photo of yours from an event, or a combination of photos from reenactments or war-time originals. If you are locally based a photo-shoot can also be arranged before-hand. You get control over how the painting looks - what equipment, what background, what gear etc. You can also choose your preferred medium, whether black and white or color.
