Fort Stevens or Bust!
Scott Watson - Allied Representative

Well my fellow re-enactors, this year brings us some uncertainties about the use of Camp Rilea as possible battle site, due to the current political situation in the Middle East and in Southeast Asia. This year began with our first ETO re-enactment at end of March due to the unavoidable cancellation of our February event at Rilea. But we as a club have an opportunity to use the Fort Stevens as a battle site in place of Camp Rilea! The only catch is that we as a club need to support the park by putting on a public battle re-enactment once a year.

People from around the Northwest have made positive comments about our past WWII events at the Fort and have inquired when the club was going to put on the next event! This event brings in more money for the park than the Civil War group during Labor Day weekend. Fort Stevens will pay the club $1000.00 and a vehicle stipend, provided that we put on three public battles and public displays for a two day weekend. This amount of money may go up as we keep helping the park. What does this mean to you the re-enactor? Lower club dues, no battle fees, educating the public, recruiting for your unit, and establishing a good reputation with the public.

The Fort has already posted the date and started to advertise the re-enactment for July 19-20 of this year. If we as a club don't make a strong presence at this event, it could hurt our reputation and an opportunity to use the park as a battle site. So I ask you the Club member to please participate at this event and I guarantee that you won't be bored and you will have fun, as have I in the past.

Thank you for your support
