Debriefing:
Following are debriefings of completed NWHA events over the past three months. The club had two events, an Eastern Front and an ETO. Both events were touch-and-go, not surprising given the challenges our country is taking on. All club members should understand and accept that the club's schedule will be more difficult to secure given the political situations we face.

Russian Front
Location: Ft. Stevens
Date: February 22nd & 23rd

The NWHA's Russian 150th Rifle Division hosted its first event at Ft. Stevens at the end of February. Originally the club had an ETO event scheduled at Camp Rilea for that weekend, but this was rightly cancelled in order to accommodate the troops preparing for the Gulf. Due very much to the club's participation at last year's living history weekend at Ft. Stevens, we were able to get last-minute access to the site. Show your appreciation for this favor to the club by attending this year's living history event in May!

The 150th Rifle Division fielded 16 members at the event, a record for the club for an Eastern Front event. In addition, a lot of work by a lot of club members meant that the uniforms were of a very high quality. German unit turnout was the same, and was pulled off on short notice and several cancellations/reschedules by the work of the unit commanders, Russ T., Marc M., and Tim S.

The 150th Rifle Division is an Associate Unit of the NWHA, not a full member unit. What does this mean to you? Well, it means you can join whether you are a new member or already part of another unit. If you already belong to a unit, you can add your name to the Russian roster by just contacting the unit commander. You won't pay any more dues or have to do anything else, you'll still be listed as a member of your primary unit. New members to the club can join the 150th as their primary unit. They'll need to pay annual club dues, and will only be able to attend Eastern Front events. For more info contact za_rodinu@nwha.org. Uniforms for this impression are cheap and plentiful!

Siegfried Line '45
Location: Camp Rilea
Date: March 29th & 30th

The club's first ETO event of 2003 was held at Camp Rilea, mostly through the hard work of the long-time event coordinator Gerry P. Due to the needs of the military the club will likely not be back to Rilea until closer to the end of the year. Luckily we have several new locations that will be filling the gap.

The 3rd Armored Division brought out two half-tracks in addition to other soft-skin vehicles. To counter this, Das Reich showed off a new Panzerschrek, and the Fallschirmjagers brought several Panzerfaust that fired a soft head up to 40 yards. Not to be outdone, the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders brought their PIAT into the field. This modified weapon uses a compressed air charge to launch its soft-nosed projectile.

The Board of Directors meeting was held during the event. The rest of the 2003 schedule was set, and changes were made to both the Allied and Axis command structures. Check with your unit commander for more details.

Unfortunately this event happened too close the printing date of this issue of the Bulletin for pictures to make in. Be sure to send in your pics from the event to newsletter@nwha.org. Pictures can be sent by email or by regular mail, where they will be scanned and returned to you at the club's expense. Stay tuned for next quarter's newsletter!
